On the wishing card, please write what you would like to wish and pray for.
This card will be on our altar all year long and will be sent back to you at the end of the year.
Don’t forget to write your name and address on the envelope.

2. Blessing
Please enter our blessing room when they are ready for you. Please give your wishing card to the minister at this time.
Have a seat from the front of the room.
When we have everyone in the room, the blessing will start.
Please follow the minister when greeting god by bowing and clapping 4 times.
Scripture on asking for guidance and blessings will be read next.
During the purification, please bow and close your eyes slightly.
3. Mochi Pounding
After the blessing please proceed to the mochi pounding tent.
We are only allowing 10 participants per group in this area for safety reasons. Others may watch from outside the tent area.
Each group will have a lead instructor who will give you instruction on how to pound the mochi.
Please follow his directions.
You will start with mashing the mochi with special mallets. This is done to prevent the mochi rice from flying out when you start pounding the mochi in the next process.
Work together to mash and pound the mochi.
(To make sure the mochi rice gets mashed, we may ask the adults to mash and pound the mochi first before getting the keiki’s involved.)
4. Mochi Rounding
After completing the mochi pounding, you will be asked to move to the rounding area.
Before doing anything, we will be asking whoever will be handling the mochi to wash their hands at the handwashing station.
Each group will have an instructor giving you directions on how to cut and shape the mochi.
At the end, we will provide 1 package to put your mochi in.
